Poachers Pocket – This weekend

The Poachers Pocket returns to Ground Floor Left on the 11 & 12th of November, whilst still set in a debaucherous country lodge, the night’s central theme will be based around the Anglo-Saxon pagan ritual of wassailing. The purpose of wassailing was to awake the cider apple trees & to scare away evil spirits to ensure a good harvest of fruit in the Autumn. 

With this in mind we have carefully designed a new seasonal four course taster menu which can be complimented by a winter warming selection of drinks & great entertainment.

Creamy sweetcorn soup with sweet turnip fritters

Warm winter root vegetable salad with pickled wild mushrooms & caramelized red onion puree
Slow cooked pigeon breasts with stewed wild boar, Jerusalem artichoke puree & roasted chestnuts served with Somerset cider brandy sauce 
Desserts 
Warm apple trifle & crumble toppings
Country cheeseboard with quince chutney
